Ladygrove hit amazing art trip!

On the 8th and 9th February , years 1-6 went on an amazing school trip to some great places. These include The Botanic Gardens , The Modern Art Museum and The Ashmolean. The year groups that went to The Botanic Gardens sketched some beautiful plants, flowers and trees,  some children  even sketched each other camouflaged in the green houses. In the Modern Art Museum the children sketched and looked at some fantastic sculptures created by Thomas Houseago. Finally ,the classes that went to the Ashmolean, also looked at some brilliant sculptures by the same Artist /Sculpture. All the adults and children who went on the trip thoroughly enjoyed the experience and most said they would love to go again!

ART WEEK SCULPTURES

One of the best weeks of the year has come... ART WEEK! We have done several things based on art, (inspired by Thomas Houseago who's work is displayed in the museum we visited) the most exciting part of the week is building the massive sculptures; most year groups have created a massive sculpture which they've built and modrocked and may paint. The process for the sculptures has taken around a day- Yr 6's started their abstact sculpture with chicken wire with random objects for stuffing inside, they've done cardboard hands and now named McBolton SHE is bigger than the average adult!

At our school this week we have had art week, and we have been making little clay figures.  We have been basing them on Anthony Gormly's figures.  We have been trying to come up with places around the school to display them.  The clay figures are in shapes of fat, skinny, round, tall and spiky. We are going to have a assembly where we display them all together.

LITTER PICKERS HERE TO HELP

Two times  a week about 6 or 7 litter pickers from yr 4 class ten  go out to make our playground a lovely and clean place . These yr 4s can't do all the litterpicking on there own so it would be very helpful if the whole school could not litter if they see any litter please pick it up and put it in the bin we dont want a stinky playground with litter every where

Hill End

Year 4 are going on a fabulous trip to Hill End.It will be a interesting experience for the kids but
remember its going to be muddy so [make sure you provide your child old clothes that you dont mind getting
muddy.]Also remember that at it will probaly rain so be sure your child has a coat and a carrier bag to put
their muddy shoes in.On the first day we would like your child to bring a bag with their lunch in but we
will provide the other meals for your child.

                                                                 BYE!!! remember... please

Thursday 3 February 2011

children explore interesting artefacts

Every Tuesday we all look at a very interesting artefact. We've seen a drill,a mysterious object and now we're looking at another one and no one has a clue what it is . We have a big piece of card to write our ideas on and we've had some great ideas some off the children have got them right some are weird but creative.

Dragons Den

The year 6's latest project is Dragons' Den, where have created a super cool inventions. Then they will
show their inventions to the Dragons (the  teachers). They will fight it out to get investment from the teachers so they can win. The children have been working very hard up to now, making posters, leaflets, radio jingles and planning our pitch for when we go into the Den.  Dragons' Den should take place on the 14th February.

break it down its music time!

All schools including are year 6 are taking on the challange of singing, there first reherseal is at all saints school there second rehearsal is at Dicot girls school and there BIG NIGHT!!! .   We all hope they do great.

Tuesday 1 February 2011

Do you want more food?

LPPS's dinner ladies serve the same portions of food too all year groups so year 6's are getting the same amount of food as foundationstage.Year 6's love the food but just wish to have more. Another point is that F.S children tend to leave a lot of  food. Hopefully in the future Year 6's and other higher yr groups will not be left as hungry.

Chill out Zone now offcially open!

HURRAY!!!!!!!!!!

The Chill out zone is a zone in our school where kids get to hang out with there mates and play fab games, but the down side is that at the end of school younger kids get it out and mess it all up. So should it be looked after more after school...?

Teacher Swap!!

Recently, the Year 6 teachers have been having a swap with the Key stage one teachers. But why is this happening that's what we want to know. Some of the teachers thought they're swapping to give them more experience on teaching other year groups. You might have a new teacher for a couple of days so look out!

Ladygrove Win Once Again

The Yr6 HI5ers won there home match against Harwell, aswell as their friendly match against Stephen Freeman a week ago. At the friendly match they did extremely well and won 23-0 (over all 8 matches) and were very proud of how well they played together. The next match at Ladygrove was sucsessful and they triumphed against Harwell. Now they are a step closer to winning the league.
GO LPPS!!!
