Fire, Fire!

On 25th of March the year got split into two groups to go to the oxford fire fire staton too be put through scenario that would have happen in real life. As you can guess we had a hard time thinking what to do at each scenario but we made it in the end. One of the favourite problems was in a dark ally way, Everybody had to go through and answer questions on the walls and all of a sudden a teenager came in the ally way and started to try and get our personal information. Many of us ran to call the police but there were some that got a bit carried away and started picking fights (joeseph, zach, harry, dan, james, joe and well i could go on forever) and then there had to be one that told them their name (katie!) Of course everyone was tired at the end of the day but it was great fun to look back on!

Brilliant Bushraft

Every Wednesday after school some of the kids do Bushcraft club. And all the bushcrafters have been busy this term making the willow dome. We have been planting, weaving and sculpting willow to make an amazing willow dome. Each week a group will do a section of the willow dome while all four other groups will be building shelters from sticks, logs and grass or making shelters to trap a mythical creature.
Soon we will have a finished willow dome and by the summer we will be able to have classes outside in it.

SPECTACULAR SCIENCE CLUB!

Thanks to lovely Mrs Omar, year 5 and 6 have had the opportunity to go to science club on Tuesday after school. We do truck loads of scientific things like: identifying our different taste buds, identifying the absorbtion of different types ofpaper and identifying the strongest and weakest magnet. IT IS REALLY VERY FUN!!!!!!!

Victory Here We Come!

Well we hope so!

This Thursday weve invited the teachers to come and get beaten in our year 6 vs Teacher competitive High 5 match! Last year the year 5's and 6's played this game but we wernt as fortunate and let the teachers win and this year it's game on! This year Mrs Manthorpe has only had a year 6 team and we hope this could be our time to shine.

The reason the teachers are so determined to play is because we've told them it's for Sport Relief so they have to bring along their pockets FULL of money! Mrs Manthorpe has given us a bucket load of tactics but we have a feeling she's all for the teachers and is going to pass them along. Fingers Crossed!!

Parents Go Back To School !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As part of Maths Week we invited our parents to come and be children again. We took part in some mind-boggling activities against the parents ; guess who one?! Us children! (duh!!) Some of the activities we took part in were fractions snap,  and connect 4. At the end of the day we were all mathed out!! We had loads of fun with our parents and they learned a lot!

Chinese Club

Every Wednesday year 6 have been going to a secret hide out after school! The Library...
... This week year 6 have been learning Chinese Charecters after school with the wonderful
Mrs Li-Koo. We have been given Chinese folders to keep our work inside. This Wednesday we were allowed time to have a quik look through the boxes our Chinese pen pals sent us. Betsy, Mirren and katie had a small game to help them learn Chinese numbers, whilst Becky and some of the others had a look through some of the small books and had a go at learning Chinese charecters. We looked further into the boxes and found some lanterns and door decorations which we had alot of fun working out how to fix them together and hang them up!
We have had alot of fun learning how to cook Chinese Noodles, Dumplings and in a few weeks we will be doin some more cooking in the cookery room.

Hittin' The Net.

On the 9th of March the school football team, including: Joe (the school captain), Dan, Dan, James, Zach, Oliver, Mathew and Thomas. Went to cholsey school to play two football matches against Manor school and Goring school. At half time ladygrove had taken the lead against Manor school4-0 with james scoring all of the goals... Second half Zach and Oliver got taken off and Thomas and Sam(who was not in the photo) but unfortunately Manor got a goal back to make the final score4-1. Straight away Ladygrove had to play against Goring and things didn't get of to a good start when Goring scored 2 goals. Unusually zach scored a goal from almost the half way line just before half time.

In the second half straight away james gabbed another goal back tom make the score 2-2 and out of the blue Dan scored 2 brilliant goals in 30 seconds. Just before he end of the match James got 2 more goals leaving the final score 6-2, well-done ladygrove football team!!!!!!!

Bread Making Gone Bannanas

Year 5 have been making bread .We made 4 batches: 2 batches of white bread ,1 batch of brown bread and 1 batch of whatever we wanted. Some people went simple and decided to put in stuff like raisins where as some others decided to put in some really wacky stuff like banana and chocolate chip. We had sooooooooo much fun making our bread but got really mucky and by the the end we were bored of bread and lost our appetite of it.

High Five Anyone?

Yesterday some of the High Five team played a match against Northborne School. We won 22-0 but the Northborne team was still brilliant! Some of the team scored goals including Jordan, Dan, Charlotte, Mirren and Matthew.

TICKLING TASTEBUDDS

On the 2nd of march 2010 Science Club smelt and tasted different foods and tried to find out where their different tastes are such as : sour, salty, bitter and sweet.Only two of the pupils in science club got all of their tastes correct!!! Science club tasted different foods such as: Passion fruit, Oranges, Onion, Mint, Air freshener and much more including everyones worst... Tonic water!!! At the end we got a Parma Violets which everyone enjoyed!! Science Club had a brilliant time and will have big expectations for next week.

Chinese Club Go Noodles!

On Wednesday the lucky year 6s who are in Chinese Club made luscious Chinese noodles (mmm noodles) and dumplings!

First we had to get dumpling wrapping and put meat(which we marinated in soya sauce, sesame oil and other seasonings), spring onion and if we wanted to prawns inside the wrapping. Then we folded up the wrapping to make a kind of sphere. All we needed to do with the noodles was put them into boiling soup and added the dumplings-Did you know, dumplings always rise to the surface in water, when they're cooked! After about 10 mins they were ready. We gobbled them up and did you know it's polite to slurp, SLURP SLURP SLURP!
