KIDS TAKE OVER THE SCHOOL ...blog

As you may have noticed the kids blog has recently been more active. This is all thanks to the wonderfull Mrs Li-Koo. A new writing and ict club has been opened on thursday lunchtime for some fortunate year 5's and 6's. Hoooooooooray kids have finally taken over!!!!!!! (Don't worry, we're not that scary!) Watch this space for exciting updates!

Year of the Tigerrrrrr!!!!

On the last day of term we had whole school golden time as a reward for filling the reward trees. The reward was a morning of art based on chineese new year. We enjoyed making different types of dragons such as year6s made a dragon which paraded through assembly; year 5 made smaller versions of moving dragons which were also AWESOME!!

Sam Breaks Class 14 Clock!

In class 14 (year 6) Sam broke the class clock! He was getting something out from his book bag when....

... all of a sudden the clock collapsed! First, the whole class burst into laughter then, Mrs Lee marched over to where Sam was and checked the clock. It was broken! So time has stopped in class 14! We are all stuck in our Maths lesson! (Yippie!) The rest of the class UH OH!

Bang goes that theory!

On the 4th of February year 6 had a mad science lesson. They experimented with vinegar and Bicarbonate of soda (cooking ingredients like sugar) to see what happened, can you guess?...

OK we'll tell you! We put a rubber glove over the top of the cup so if anything weird happens it doesn't give Sally (the caretaker) a big clear up! The bicarbonate of soda mixed with the vinegar causing the mixture to go berserk! The mixture fizzed all into the glove causing the glove to stand on end. Even though the bubbles only went 1/4 of the way up the glove, the gas pushed the glove off even though the year 6's held it on with all their might!(what STRONG year 6's)
The year 6's had a great science lesson, let's hope you have a great science lesson when you get to year 6!!!

Music to my ears

Some of the year 6s have chosen to carry on playing their instruments such as cornets, trombones and clarinets. Every week we get a practice session and are given music to take home and practise. The year 6s have started to play a wide variety of tunes on a more advanced level.

Music Maestros

At the beginning of term 3 year 5 were fortunate enough to have James the music man an Mrs Hobbs come in. They teach class 12 the clarinet whilst they teach class 13 a range of brass instruments such as the cornet, the trombone and the baritone. Some of us are speeding ahead and can allready play different notes whilst the rest of us can't even get a sound out of their mouthpiece! Pffffffffffffffffffffffff!

THE SUPER STORY-TELLING COMPETITION!!

All last week the school had a story-telling competition although every-one had a very good go at it only certain groups won(by being voted by their year group) and performed in assembly in front of the whole school. The winners prize was to tell their story to the story-teller Peter Hearn and received some Top Tips on how to improve their story-telling. To win and work with a professional was an amazing feeling!

Mind-boggling Mathletics!!!!!

Year 5s and Year 6s have been battling each other across the Internet, trying to be Number 1 i.e. the Best in the World. Mathletics is a fun, addictive and competitive way to practise and level-up your Maths skills and abilities. You can also compete live against other people in the world! There are different activities to target different areas like times tables, division facts, shapes, perimeter and area.

Zach in year 6 got to 2nd in the WORLD and 1st in the UK, battling against brain boxes Harry, Mirren, Oliver and Dan!!!!!!!!!!!!
Class 13, 14 and 15 all got to number 1 in the UK in separate weeks. While class 15 boosted to number 1 in the WORLD!

If we don't answer the phone, then you'll know where we'll be!
